Garlic & Ginger

USES/BENEFITS

Can assist with the following:

APPLICATION/DOSAGE:

1-2 Capsules per day or as recommended by your health care practitioner

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

Ginger slows down blood clotting in some cases, and should not be taken with other medications (Anticoagulant / Antiplatelet drugs) that also slow down clotting, as it will increase the chances of bruising and bleeding. Garlic unpleasant breath or body odour, heartburn, burning in your mouth or throat, nausea, vomiting, gas or diarrhoea

Essential Oils

We would suggest the following:

  • Lavender Essential Oil
  • Peppermint Essential Oil
  • Ginger Essential Oil

Massage – Buy a base oil: coconut, sweet almond, grape seed for example. If you have 20ml of base oil, add half the amount of Essential Oil drops. That would make it 10 drops. In this case you will add 3 drops of Lavender, 3 drops of Ginger and 4 drops of Peppermint. Apply the blend over the abdomen, forehead, back of the neck and the temples, as required. Especially effective after a bath.

Diffuser/Burner – Add 5 drops into a diffuser/burner. (1 drop of Lavender, 1 drop of Ginger and 3 drops of Peppermint)

Inhalation – The age-old method of a towel over the head. Pour boiled water into a bowl. Add 6 drops of Peppermint and 4 drops of Ginger. Agitate the water. Close your eyes. Place a towel over your head. Inhale the vapours for a few minutes at a time, for up to 10 minutes, or as long as comfortable. Repeat as many times as necessary. A facial steamer can also be used, but with 3-5 drops of Essential Oil.

** A patch test is required for application – 1 drop of aromatherapy oil to 4 drops of base oil. Apply a coin size amount to a patch of skin on the inner arm **

If sensitivity occurs, apply more base oil to soothe the area. Possibly avoid use for a further 10 days. If you wish to continue, dilute to ¼ of the original amount and test on a small area of skin.  If there is no further reaction, continue with that dosage.

** Oils are for external use only and must be blended with a carrier oil. Always avoid the eyes, ears and nose **

(2 very stimulating oils, 1 warm and 1 cooling)

** Ginger – Use low doses, a strong, warming oil. Avoid during pregnancy, HBP, Heart conditions, Cancer, Diabetes, Liver damage, Skin disorders/sensitivity. No sun direct sun exposure to any skin applications for 24hours **

** Peppermint – Avoid use during pregnancy/lactating, or if on homeopathic remedies. Avoid use in children under 5. Use low doses, it’s a very cooling oil and strong. May irritate the skin. It is a stimulant, so do not add to the bath or large doses in a massage before bed. Safe all around for inhaling **

** Lavender is the safest of oils, if on a rare occasion you react, apply more base oil to the skin to soothe it and dilute the massage blend with more base oil  **
