We would suggest the following herbs:
Ginseng, Berberine & Bitter melon: Help to regulate glucose and lipid metabolism. These herbs are commonly used as natural remedies to treat metabolic syndrome. *Capsules / Tinctures*.
Holy basil/Tulsi: The leaves work on glucose and cholesterol levels. Tea with the leaves, Brew them in hot water for 5-10 minutes, strain and drink. *Tincture*.
Spirulina: Lowers blood pressure and helps with metabolic syndrome. *Capsules / Powder to add to juices*.
Maca root: Increases glutathione levels in the body. Helps with cholesterol and the immune system which helps ward off dis-ease. Lowers glucose levels in the blood which improves heart health, diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

We would suggest the following diet:
Healthy:
- Omega 3 fatty acids: Regulates heartbeat, blood pressure and decreases the risk of blood clots and inflammation, thereby decreasing the risk of heart attack/stroke. *Food sources: wild-caught fish, walnuts, flax seeds, grass-fed beef*.
- Vegetables: Dark leafy greens (spinach and kale), avocados, cabbage, broccoli, carrots etc. are all loaded with antioxidants and phytonutrients, which fight dis-ease and inflammation.
- Fruit: A healthy, delicious way to get your natural sugar intake. Pears, apples, prunes, oranges, bananas… easy on the go fruits. *Especially beneficial is pomegranate seeds*.
- Legumes: Rich in protein and fibre. Great for keeping the blood sugar balanced. *Kidney and lima beans, lentils, chickpeas, black-eyed beans*.
- Whole grains: High fibre foods have benefits for diabetes and heart health. *Oatmeal, brown rice*.
Avoid:
- Frozen, bagged, boxed, processed foods: filled with unhealthy preservatives and additives that do no good for your health.
- Artificial sweeteners and sugar substitutes containing aspartame, sucralose and saccharin, can cause weight gain, metabolic syndrome, diabetes type 2 and cardiovascular disease.
- Carbonated drinks: Diet sodas are lethal and packed with unhealthy substances. It puts you at greater risk for Diabetes type 2 and metabolic syndrome.
- Tran’s fatty acids: Margarine, cakes, pies etc.
- Refined carbs and sugar
- Alcohol
