We would suggest the following diet:

Follow a diet of salt restriction. Eat lean proteins, fresh fruit and vegetable, healthy fats, sprouted whole grains, organic dairy. Eat more regular, smaller meals.

Avoid toxins and chemicals – eat as organic as possible.

Drink coconut water – High in Potassium and other electrolytes, this can help you stay hydrated, even when on a liquid restricted protocol.

Dandelion root – A natural diuretic without losing the potassium, as it is packed with potassium, Vitamins A, C and K and minerals, including calcium, iron and magnesium. If you have fresh dandelions growing in your garden, do not use pesticides and be sure it is free of animal faeces etc. You can add the fresh dandelion stems to salads. You can steep the roots/flowers in boiling water for 5 minutes to make a tea. Or you can get it in tincture form as well.

Herbs to boost your liver function to aid detox:

Milk Thistle – To detoxify your body temporarily, the recommended dosage is 150mg taken 1-3 times per day. This is quite a high dose that can act as a natural liver detox. For ongoing use and supporting the liver, take 50-150mg per day.

Bupleurem – A natural remedy in Chinese Medicine. It is often blended with Milk Thistle and Dandelion Root, among other herbs, to make a formula to support the liver. It is available in pill and tea form. There is no standard dose.

Dandelion – Steep the root or flowers in boiling water for 5 minutes to make a tea.

Essential Oils

We would suggest the following:

  • Lavender Essential Oil

Massage – Buy a base oil: coconut, sweet almond, grape seed for example. If you have 20ml of base oil, add half the amount of Essential Oil drops. In this case, you will add 10 drops of Lavender. Rub the mixture over the body, as required. Especially abdomen, and legs if they have been afflicted as well. Wherever necessary. Great for after a bath.

Bath – Your skin is the most absorbent part of the body. The heat of the bath assists in the absorption. There are 2 ways to do this:

  1. Diffusing 5 drops (maximum) of Essential Oil into a teaspoon of milk. Or a cup, if you would like more of a Cleopatra style bath. Add Epsom salts.
  2. Or simply add 5ml of your massage blend.

Close all windows. Soak for 15-20 minutes minimum. Avoid splashing in the eyes.

** Lavender is the safest of oils, if on a rare occasion you react, apply more base oil to the skin to soothe it and dilute the massage blend with more base oil **
